Claims Officer, Motor (General Insurance)

Location: Hong Kong

Your role
As a Claims Officer, your main responsibilities will involve:
  • Handle Motor claims with focus on liability, investigation and pro-active case management
  • Provide quality and professional claim service to customers
  • Ensure claim procedures, documentation is adhered and settled effectively according to company policies and group claims management requirement and best practice
  • Take proactive approach in monitoring motor claims mainly for third party bodily injury in order to minimize claims settlement
  • Conduct in-house settlement
  • Report to Claims Manager for clients with adverse claims experience
  • Assist Claims Manager to monitor and conduct assessment of the performance of external loss adjuster whose services form part of claims services
  • Perform any other duties, task oriented or claims related as may be delegated by Claims Manager
  • Promptly handle third party bodily injury and litigation claims taking responsibility to resolve all enquiries from both customer and external contacts to ensure delivery of a focused claims service
  • Develop a claims case strategy to ensure that appropriate reserves are assigned, investigations conducted and appropriate suppliers engaged
  • Acquire and efficiently organize the relevant evidence and information to accurately assess the value of the claim and to recognize potential fraud/recovery indicators
  • Review, resolve and proactively finalize claims within authority limits ensuring settlement at an optimum level
  • Adhere to local regulatory and governance requirements throughout the life of the claim to ensure that we make decisions using the right standards



Your Skills and Experience
As a Claims Officer, your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with 2 to 3 years third party bodily injury claims handling is a must
  • Supervision experience and qualifications of ANZIIF/ACII would be an asset
  • Pro-active settlement experience
  • Knowledge in insurance principles
  • Technical knowledge on motor products and services
  • Understand legislation and legal liability, court procedure, common law and civil claims
  • High level awareness of injury types and the interpretation of medical evidence
  • Litigation Management
  • Pro-active settlement experience
  • Good command of written English
  • Negotiation skills, both written and verbal
