Associate Physical Education Officer (Ref. 17010308-E)


The appointee will be required to:

(a)  teach physical education courses and fitness training courses;

(b)  coach and manage sports teams;

(c)  perform the role of a team leader to accomplish assigned tasks/projects;

(d)  plan and co-ordinate in the launching of Wellness in Action programme;

(e)  serve as secretary to committees/sectional and departmental meetings/focus groups;

(f)  be responsible for the administration of various areas of physical education and sports function including:

  • organizing sports team training and physical education courses for students;
  • managing part-time coaches and part-time instructors;
  • organizing the Sports Team Annual Prize Presentation;
  • launching the Outstanding Sportsmen Recommendation Scheme (OSRS);
  • assisting in the implementation of Student Athletes Development Programme and organizing various tailor-made workshops for the student athletes;
  • coordinating and organizing competitions and sports exchange projects with local, regional and international universities;
  • promoting and enhancing the quality of physical education courses and related programmes to students by conducting surveys with detailed analysis and recommendations;
  • organizing Fitness Assessment Programme for students;
  • acting as editorial member of physical education related publications and providing expert knowledge from the academic angle; and
  • being adviser to the Student Union’s sports bodies and related activities.

(g)   perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Office or his/her delegates.

Applicants should have:

(a)  a recognised university degree with at least five years’ solid post-qualification working experience in physical education and sports;

(b)  the ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English and Chinese, including fluency in Putonghua;

(c)  sound knowledge of computer applications; and

(d)  good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Remuneration and Condition of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointments will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.  Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
