Assistant Technical Officer (Ref. 16100307-E2)


The appointee will be required to:

(a)   look after the daily operations and management of Structural Dynamics Laboratory, Structural Health Monitoring Laboratory and Light Structures Laboratory;

(b)   provide technical support to users of instruments, such as MTS seismic table, MTS universal testing system, dynamic data acquisition and control system, accelerometer, signal conditioner, optical sensor and strain gauge, etc.;

(c)   assist teaching staff to conduct laboratory sessions for undergraduate and postgraduate students;

(d)   provide technical support to students and research personnel in the area of structural engineering that may be carried out outside the University;

(e)   liaise with other departments in the University and external organizations for the management of the laboratories named above; and

(f)   perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or his/her delegates.


Applicants should:

(a)   have a recognized degree / higher diploma in Civil & Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related disciplines;

(b)   be fluent in Cantonese, English and Putonghua; and

(c)   have at least three years of relevant post-qualification experience.

Preference will be given to those who have a valid driving licence of class 2 or above, and those who have working experience in laboratories and/or workshops in tertiary institutions.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
