Term Research Assistant I / II (Horticulture and Landscape Management)
The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) offers over 20 innovative degree programmes that are vocationally oriented and developed with significant industry input. All the programmes are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, and most are also accredited by the relevant professional bodies. In 2018/19 AY, twelve programmes are included in the Government’s Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions / Sectors (SSSDP), which provides subsidies to students varying from $41,000 to $71,700 per year. The appointee shall report to the Principal Investigator (PI) of the project and is expected to assist the PI in the planning, development and co-ordination of research projects related to urban greening and ecological restoration of soil slopes. He/she will be required to conduct plant ecological studies, laboratory work and data analysis; assist in drafting research progress report and the relevant documents; and perform other research duties as assigned by the PI.
For the post of Term Research Assistant I, applicants should have a recognised degree, preferably a Master’s degree in horticulture, forestry, biology, geography, environmental science or related fields with relevant work experience.
For the post of Term Research Assistant II, applicants should have a recognised sub-degree, preferably a bachelor’s degree in horticulture, forestry, biology, geography, environmental science or related fields.
Those with good organisation and interpersonal skills, the ability to identify local plant species and conduct laboratory analysis will be an advantage. Fresh graduates of Master’s degree will also be considered.
(1) Candidates may be appointed on temporary or part-time employment.
(2) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and work irregular hours, shifts and on Saturdays and Sundays.
(3) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
