Job Description

Part-time Technician (Programming)

The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) offers over 20 innovative degree programmes that are vocationally oriented and developed with significant industry input. All the programmes are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, and most are also accredited by the relevant professional bodies. In 2018/19 AY, twelve programmes are included in the Government’s Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions / Sectors (SSSDP), which provides subsidies to students varying from $41,000 to $71,700 per year. Major Duties:
(a) To assist in the development and production of digital interactives and multimedia contents for different education programmes, projects and events;
(b) To be responsible for programming interactive AR/VR, motion tracking games, single or multi-touch games, interactive games for product launch events and exhibitions;
(c) To create interactive applications with touch sensors / motion sensors / cameras / Arduino;
(d) To work and communicate effectively with the design team, project management team about programming flow, wireframe, equipment, and technology required for projects;
(e) To assist the project management team in setting up and dismantling project installations;
(f) To provide audio-visual (video, photography), venue set-up and technical support to events and activities;
(g) To assist in the procurement of related materials and equipment; and
(h) To assist and support operations and other services provided by the Project Office as required.

(a) A recognized diploma or higher certificate in Information Technology (Multimedia Technology) / Computer Science / Digital Media / Creative Media / Information and Communications Technology, or equivalent;
(b) At least 2 years’ relevant work experience in the related fields;
(c) Hands-on experience in Unity3D and be familiar with the C#, C++ and Python programming languages;
(d) Good problem solving skills and strong initiative;
(e) Ability to work independently and be a good team player;
(f) Good communication and presentation skills in both English and Chinese; and
(g) Hands-on experience with following items as an added advantage:
  (i) MS Windows & Linux application development;
  (ii) Interactive application development & interactive device integration;
  (iii) Creating gorgeous unity effects;
  (iv) Programming for handling multiple workstations synchronization through network;
  (v) AR/VR application development; and
  (vi) 360° video production.

(1) Applicants invited for interview will be required to present his/her design or/and web portfolio.
(2) The appointee may be required to work irregular hours or shifts and perform duties on Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.
(3) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
