Actuarial Assistant / Actuarial Associate
Location: Hong Kong
Provide actuarial project and modeling support within the Actuarial Section. This includes the participation in special actuarial projects relating to capital, solvency, process improvement and financial management, as well as the design, development, enhancement and maintenance of actuarial models and reporting tools.
- Actuarial project support – Provide technical support on special actuarial projects assigned by the Team Head and/or the Chief Actuary, in collaboration with the BAU actuarial teams. Potential exposures to the IFRS 4 Phase II and Risk-Based Capital reporting regimes development.
- Actuarial model development – Take part in the actuarial discussion and assessment of the project scope and expectation to identify financial drivers and practical solutions; Construct the technical specification and model design; Carry out the model enhancement and robust change management; Analyze and interpret the financial results and findings; Present the end-to-end project conclusions and recommendations for senior management approval. Projects may include, but not limited to, maintenance, development and enhancement of actuarial models, both deterministic and stochastic; alignment of actual management practices and new product features for different reporting and analysis purposes.
- Technical advisory support and governance – Assist in the construction of response to technical enquiries from different stakeholders (regulators, regional office and the UK home office). Assist in process changes and implementation to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in order to fulfill company and actuarial objectives and strategies. Assist in the maintenance of robust actuarial governance and compliance framework.
Qualifications and Experience
University degree holder majoring in Actuarial Science or related curriculum.
Decent progress in actuarial exams.
At least 1-2 years (for OF) and 3-4 years (for SO) of relevant experience
Experience in life insurance industry, preferably with UK with-profits management, economic capital (e.g. Solvency II) and financial reporting experience.
Modeling experience with PROPHET and stochastic modeling software (e.g. PROPHET ALS) is a plus
A team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to work independently and under pressure
Good problem solving and analytical skills
Good command of both spoken and written English.
