Senior Officer - Finance Operations - Human Resources

Location: Hong Kong

Job Description & Responsibilities:

At PwC, our Human Resources (HR) professionals drive the firm’s people strategy, create a unique people experience, and work with the business to drive success in the marketplace.  The HR function supports our people in reaching their full market value which then sets PwC apart as the distinctive Firm as the ‘employer of choice’.

The HR Operations team provides daily operational support to over 180 HR professionals across Mainland China and Hong Kong. Key responsible areas include finance, headcount management, resourcing, administration, and so forth.

This is a newly created role to strengthen the finance function of the department.  The major responsibilities include:
  • Preparing monthly and ad hoc department accounts
  • Working with function teams to track and consolidate expense reports
  • Checking ledgers records and recharging of expenses
  • Reconciling  costs from Shared Delivery Centre and travel payments
  • Managing headcount and people cost records
  • Coordinating payment requests and contracts from function teams for review, approval, processing, tracking and filing
  • Conducting budget variance analysis
  • Consolidating budgets from function teams to prepare consolidated budgets for the year
  • Preparing budget presentation to record and seek approval for budget proposal
  • Managing year-end accrual
  • Contributing innovative and practical ideas to continuously improve the daily finance management for the department
  • Providing support to various projects within the HR department where needed


Reporting structure & key relationships:

Reports to the National HR Finance Lead (Associate Director based in Hong Kong)
Key relationship:  National Human Resources Leadership, Human Resources Teams, Finance Department, Shared Delivery Centre, and other supporting functions across China/Hong Kong

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Accounting, Finance or related fields
  • At least 4 years of work experience as finance/accounting professional in  professional services or in-house corporates
  • Demonstrates strong technical expertise in accounting and finance. HKICPA or equivalent qualification is preferred
  • Ability to build strong relationships and work effectively with different teams from different background and grades in a collaborative manner
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under deadlines while maintaining quality of work delivered
  • Ability to solve problem independently and consult with teams and leaders on more challenging issues
  • Open to learning and is comfortable to work in a dynamic andfast paced environment
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English,  Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese
  • Proficient in MS Office particularly Excel and PowerPoint.  Advanced Excel skillset (e.g. VBA) and data visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau, Qlikview) is preferred
