JOB SUMMARY
 

The Sr. Director, BMSC Consulting, Asia Pacific (APAC) is a key member of the BMSC (Brand, Marketing, Sales & Consumer Services) Continent Consulting organization that provides business planning, strategic support and leadership for core functions that support the BMSC organization, the Chief Sales & Marketing Officer (CSMO) and the leadership team.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Business Planning + Strategy:  manage the bmsc planning process, development of annual strategy connected to corporate and continent strategies.  Develop + manage bmsc MBOs, scorecards, budget requests, planning and allocation.  
  • Business Process + Project Management:  develop and oversee business processes, project management tools and review processes to ensure efficient and collaborative interaction across the bmsc functions.
  • Communications + Change Management:  manage internal communications, townhalls, offsites, meetings and conferences to train, education and shape the APAC wide bmsc culture and team.
  • Org Capability, Training + Development partner with bmsc HR leader + HQ training team to assess and optimize bmsc organization, identify needs, develop and execute training programs to support the disciplines, manage high potential leadership programs.
  • BMSC Projects and Initiatives:  where needed, oversee project leaders managing cross functional projects and initiatives supporting top-line revenue growth, transformation and innovation in APAC (e.g. Sales deployment, new brands, expansion of Marriott Digital Services, Digital empires innovation, F+B related programs) 
 

The primary responsibilities of this role are to 1) ensure bmsc team operates smoothly against the CSMO vision and priorities 2) develop and maintain and a high performing + collaborative team culture with high associate engagement and 3)  leadership of key processes + tools + resources that support the APAC bmsc functions (training, incentives, communication platforms, MBOs).

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience Required
  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major
  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance
OR
  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance
 

Experience Preferred

  • Prior experience leading the planning and execution of strategic projects and initiatives in the Sales, Rev. Mgt., Marketing & Digital area.
 
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
 

Project and Strategy Leadership

Leads cross-functional working teams comprised of discipline experts from Human Resources, Finance, other departments within BMSC Planning & Services, and Asia Pacific S&M Leadership to:

  • Plan and implement Asia Pacific S&M initiatives with minimal oversight, working with Asia Pacific S&M leaders to meet project objectives and goals on time and on budget
  • Support transformational projects working across functions and disciplines to meet objectives
  • Guide on-going financial and business analysis support to Asia Pacific & BMSC leadership to support strategic decision making using the appropriate approaches, systems and resources.
  • Deliver presentations related to the strategic roadmap development, project execution and management to senior management and other key stakeholders (e.g., owners, associates, customers).
  • Actively engage internal partners (e.g. change management and communications, human resources, development, feasibility) to prepare content for communication materials as needed for deployment of BMSC initiatives. 
 

Strategy Execution

Leads initiatives on behalf of the APAC CSMO and team to drive change across the S&M organization.  Acts as a project leader and day-to-day project decision maker with the following responsibilities:

  • Accountable for delivering the results of the project
  • Provide content guidance to the project
  • Participate in review cycles at key milestones & provide go/no-go decision
  • Sign off on deliverables
  • Actively participate in strategy sessions
  • Contribute to strategy development
  • Develop & drive implementation plan
  • Ensure appropriate sponsorship and resourcing
  • Establish key milestones and approval roles
  • Ensure timely delivery against milestones
  • Serve as customer advocate by helping team resources understand target consumer needs in the local market
 

Managing and Conducting Human Resources Activities

  • Partner with bmsc HR leader to continuously improve team and job structures; ensures clear leadership accountabilities are in place.
  • Hires, develops, and retains diverse talent that makes a strong, positive impact on the organization.
  • Builds teams with the appropriate mix of talent and skills to drive innovation and performance. Identifies talents of direct reports, and assists with their growth and development plans.
  • Facilitates regular, ongoing communication in department (e.g., staff meetings).
  • Sets goals and expectations for direct reports using the performance review process and holds staff accountable for performance goals.
  • Promotes adherence to policies consistently, follows disciplinary procedures and documents items according to Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs) and supports the Peer Review Process.
  • Conducts annual performance appraisal with direct reports according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Performs other reasonable duties as required for the position
