Senior IT Infrastructure Specialist

Location: Asia-Hong Kong-Wan Chai-Causeway Bay


This role requires in-depth technical knowledge and understanding of data center service to ensuring reliable and efficient operations of the DC, including the server OS platform running on it.

This person has to be very collaborative, working closely not only with the MIS teams in the region but also with vendors and suppliers, other business units, brands within the group company and the global MIS teams in EMEA.

Requires technical knowledge and project management skills, as well as open minded communication capabilities including English (written and verbal), and vendor / team coordination skills.




Primary responsibility is to manage the physical data center environment, and the access to the cases and racks

Ø  Monitor data center activities and services to ensure compliance with company policy and best practices

Ø  Provide and maintain backbone equipment, data cabling and associated documentation within the data center

Ø  Maintain the documentation

Ø  Monitor power consumption to better allocate resources within the data center

Ø  Work closely with the DC hosting vendor

Ø  Provide capacity planning to the DC resources


Strive to maintain and provide uninterrupted data center operations and services

Ø  Conduct regular review of procedures and technical studies to automate the processes to improve operational stability and efficiency

Ø  Manage incidents and internal escalations from other MIS teams on issues related to data center operations.

Ø  Support day-to-day business activities and provide tier-3 support related to the DC infrastructure and operating systems.

Ø  Developing user manuals to aid the deployment of new technology and solutions

Ø  Maintain proper backup solutions


Provide professional support to business projects related to DC

Ø  Capacity planning and resource management / optimization for the virtualized environment

Ø  Manage new systems setup projects as requested from the business at DC




·         In depth knowledge on Microsoft Server family, with hands-on installation experience

·         Experience in VMware vSphere / vCenter, VM migration tools

·         Understanding of fundamental overall IT infrastructure including network and security 

·         Strong collaborative and team coordination skills

·         Strong written and verbal English skills

·         Vendor control / management experience

·         Service contract negotiation skills

·         Ability to engage property management and facilities management on building related issues

·         Effective project management capabilities

·         Innovative problem solving, design and testing skills

·         Must be well organized and able to work under pressure

·         Good interpersonal skills with a service orientated approach

·         Must be able to work well individually as well as with a team

·         Flexible approach to working hours and on-site work in DC




·         5+ years of total IT experience

·         Experience in managing data center operations and security practices in a regional firm

·         Experience in managing large scale server farm

·         Experience in setup and manage Microsoft Server products such as MSSQL, IIS, FTP

·         Experience in managing large scale storage system such as SAN, Hyper Converged System

·         Knowledge in Microsoft Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, WSUS, GPO

·         Knowledge in asset management system, such as Microsoft SCCM, BMC footprint, Altiris

·         Knowledge in database architecture and operations

·         Demonstrated knowledge of Change Management frameworks such as ITIL

·         Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems independently and to generate innovative solutions over a large server farm
