Job Overview
 
JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. (the "Bank") is seeking to hire a lawyer to advise and provide advisory and transactional support to the Bank's trade finance business in Asia.  The position is based in Hong Kong or Singapore.
 
Responsibilities
 
To partner with and provide legal support and advice to the Bank's trade finance services in the region.  The lawyer will assist in both advisory and transactional works, and the roll out of global projects in the region.  
 
In particular, primary legal support will include:         
  • Reviewing, advising and negotiating trade finance facilities and products offered thereunder and related loan and security documentation
  • Reviewing, advising and negotiating supply chain finance (receivables purchase) products and related documentation
  • Reviewing and advising business and functional partners on new product initiatives and general legal and regulatory issues
  • Liaising and coordinating with legal counterparts and functional partners regionally and globally
  • Instructing and managing outside counsel

Qualification

 

  • Qualified lawyer with at least 5 -7 years of post-qualification legal experience (optimally, a combination of experience as an in-house counsel in the financial services industry and as a lawyer in a top tier law firm)
  • Experience in advising and negotiating APLMA/LMA forms required
  • International trade finance experience and familiarity with ICC trade rules such as UCP, ISP, URDG required
  • Credit transactions and cross-border transactions management experience required
  • Experience in supply chain finance / factoring / receivable purchase is an advantage
  • Qualified in a common law jurisdiction and a local jurisdiction in any of the Asian Pacific countries would be an advantage
  • Strong drafting, negotiation and legal analytical skills
  • Able to communicate well and work in a cross-functional team to achieve common goals
  • Ability to identify and escalate issues timely and appropriately
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and respond to business needs and goals
  • English fluency required; fluency in a second language advantageous
