This position is part of the APAC Litigation/Employment Law Team and will support Human Resources/Employee Relations in the Asia Pacific Region, reporting to the APAC Head of Employment Law.
This position will assist Human Resources professionals and business managers in multiple APAC jurisdictions to navigate employment law issues that impact human resources decisions and people strategies. The position supports all lines of business across various APAC jurisdictions. Responsibilities include:
Advising on issues such as compensation, benefits, performance management, training, staffing and discipline;
Guiding/leading employee investigations;
Handling litigation matters in various jurisdictions (directly and through outside counsel);
Drafting and reviewing HR policies, agreements and other legal documentation;
Managing employment law aspects of mergers & acquisitions and multi-jurisdictional projects.
Qualified/licensed lawyer with 5-8 years of recent employment advisory and employment litigation experience; advice and counseling experience in a major law firm, large multi-national corporation or equivalent;
Attorney must be licensed to practice law and a member in good standing in in the state/jurisdiction in which the position is based or otherwise in compliance with the in-house counsel registration rules of that state/jurisdiction;
Experience handling a full range of labor and employment issues in multiple jurisdictions;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Strong organizational/project management skills, ability to handle high volume and balance competing demands;
Ability to develop and maintain solid client relationships and to influence decision makers at all levels;
Confidence and experience translating complex legal concepts into practical solutions to guide HR professionals and business people;
Ability to work successfully in a matrixed, team environment;
Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
Knowledge of employee benefits and tax/social insurance issues
Experience advising on employment law issues pertaining to APAC countries;
Knowledge of current employment-related regulatory requirements and environment relating to multi-national financial institutions;
Experience advising and working on mergers, acquisitions and other transactions;
Employment law experience with large financial services institutions;
In-house employment law experience;
Experience responding to financial services regulatory inquiries with respect to employment law issues;
Strong knowledge of eDiscovery/ESI.
