The regional benefits team is part of Human Resources and is responsible for policy and governance oversight of the firm’s pension, employee benefit and wellness programs across the Asia Pacific region where the firm has operations in 18 countries.    


This role will provide dedicated day-to-day support for the Hong Kong pension and benefits program from a policy and governance perspective and for projects related to that program.  The Hong Kong office has 3,700 employees and is a key regional center for the Bank’s commercial business in the region. In addition, the successful candidate will play a key role in the review, design, implementation and oversight of benefit programs in other locations across the Asia Pacific region. 


The role involves interaction with all levels of employees, other areas of Human Resources, payroll and finance, tax and legal specialist, networking groups, external vendors, as well as peers in other financial institutions.  Operational effectiveness and risk management are key priorities for the role.  The role requires a strong, resourceful individual of high analytical and organizational abilities who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment to deliver results.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the Human Resources and HR Services Delivery functions in Hong Kong in relation to the Hong Kong pension and benefit plans

  • Responsible for reviews, design, implementation, communication and oversight of benefit programs in Hong Kong, and other locations in the Asia Pacific region

  • Ensure benefit programs remain legally compliant, competitive, relevant and in line with organizational goals through internal review and external benchmarking/research

  • Drive and ensure appropriate benefit plan governance and controls are in place in Hong Kong, and across the Asia Pacific region

  • Responsible for completion of annual and ad hoc market survey and analysis

  • Partner with Hong Kong Wellness Champion and Asia Pacific Healthcare & Wellness Manager to ensure effective healthcare and wellness programs are in place, and develop solutions to integrate wellness aspects into benefit programs with the aim of positive employee behavior change

  • Partner with global team in relation to all aspects of benefit programs, including development and maintenance of international benefit program database

  • Responsible for vendor management for non-administration vendors (eg HR consultants, insurance brokers) in Hong Kong and other locations in the Asia Pacific region, to ensure key performance indicators, service level agreements and ongoing data security requirements are met, negotiation of vendor contracts and resolution of service issues

  • Build relationships with regional and other country benefits officers to leverage best practice and ensure each location is consistent in the offering for the country they represent

  • Liaise with relevant areas of the business and HR teams in respect of mergers & acquisitions, divestitures and new office setups

  • Responsible for budgeting and cost setting for current and anticipated benefit programs


  • Strong academic background with 5 to 10 years of experience in benefits with a multinational organization

  • Solid, technical knowledge of regional benefits programs, with particular focus on Hong Kong, and with experience in program development, implementation and administration

  • An effective communicator with strong relationship building and influencing skills

  • Strong project manager

  • Sound analytical abilities with a clear focus on comprehensiveness and quality of information

  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and to adapt quickly to changing priorities

  • Strong inter-personal skills and an ability to provide technical advice to non-technical stakeholders

  • High level of initiative and a strong will to succeed

  • Strong client-service mindset
