Location: HK-Hong Kong-Hong Kong-One Island East / 31141

The Equities Middle Office Project Team is responsible for a multitude of projects spanning the below areas across Equity Derivatives, Cash Equities and Prime Services business lines:
  • Global strategic business-driven initiatives 
  • New products or new business process reviews
  • Industry initiatives
  • Regulatory driven initiatives
  • Operational efficiency & automation initiatives

The Prime Services business is driving an aggressive innovation agenda. In this context, the role focuses specifically on managing the strategic change agenda for the Prime Synthetics and Cash Prime Brokerage business. This requires assimilating the large number of ideas generated at all levels (primarily by FO) into a structured framework. The right amount of rigour in documenting / governing initiatives is important to enable targeted decision making.
 
These initiatives cover:
  • Business Processes improvements across Operations, FO & Technology
  • Strategic system implementation / re-engineering
  • New Products and markets
  • Efficiencies and Control
  • Client offerings & strategies
  • Regulatory change

The candidate would be responsible for:
  • Working closely with the Business (Desk Heads, Global and Regional Business Managers) to understand their needs / priorities / issues
  • Initiating projects by defining scope, objectives and timeframes
  • Performing cost benefit analysis to propose optimum future process to the business 
  • Being the voice of the business and facing-off to partners - technology, operations, legal, compliance, treasury and other support groups Building and owning project deliverables: business case, plans, issues & risks 
  • Building and running governance around the different initiatives: communication, escalation, resolution 
  • Ultimately, successfully deliver own portfolio of initiatives

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with the following characteristics:
  • Excellent project management skills & a track record in delivering complex projects on behalf of Front Office / Operations / Technology
  • At least 3 years experience working in the change environment
  • Good balance between analytical skills and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to face off to very demanding stakeholders, managing their expectations
  • Previous experience in the Financial Services industry, understanding of the Prime Services business a plus
  • Strong understanding of the end to end transaction lifecycle
  • Excellent problem solving skills to identify, understand and address operational and technical issues
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to develop relationships across the various stakeholders including senior business executives 
  • A self motivated individual, able to deliver with minimal supervision, whilst working effectively in a team
    Previous experience of virtual team management
