The investment writing team serves as the brand ambassador and voice of the firm. The team aims to deliver the firm’s intellectual capital covering markets, economy, investment strategies and product solutions, positioning J.P. Morgan Asset Management as the preeminent provider of insights to institutions, intermediaries/financial advisors and end investors. They are the focal point in writing and editing a wide range of content conveyed in online and print publications, video/audio podcasts, other digital distribution method and in-person meetings, that support the firm’s overall growth and brand strategies.
The team is part of the APAC Marketing Organisation working collaboratively across the organisation.
The Investment Writer, based in Hong Kong, writes, rewrites and edits market, investment, retirement and product related content for a variety of audiences who are clients and prospects of J.P. Morgan Asset Management. The writer addresses a broad range of topics in client-focused thought leadership and marketing pieces that support business efforts across Global Investment Management. S/he works closely with J.P. Morgan's senior professionals (portfolio managers, strategists, economists, product specialists and marketing managers) to develop economic, financial, investment, retirement and product themes. The writer will leverage the subject matter expertise of our various business partners and his/her own individual editorial knowledge and marketing skills to make each piece relevant, differentiated, thought-provoking, actionable and on-brand.
The content includes and is not limited to market and investment commentaries, educational articles, research-intensive white papers, paid and earned media and website content. The writer also works closely with marketing managers to identify editorial needs and originates content ideas from investment calls, discussions with salespeople and investment professionals, webcasts and conferences. S/he must have a demonstrated ability to turn complex financial subject matter into compelling copy that informs and educates the firm’s clients (institutions, intermediaries/financial advisors, end investors), while promoting the firm’s broad array of investment solutions.
Superior writing and editorial skills in English, Chinese and/or Japanese. Marketing/copywriting experience a plus
Displays a reporter-like tenacity to get on the calendar of senior-level subject matter experts when necessary to react to market events, generate high-quality content under tight deadlines, within hours or next day
Proven success in establishing and maintaining rapport with senior investment professionals and salespeople
Strong interviewing skills; demonstrated ability to synthesize various viewpoints and translate those views into thoughtful marketing and educational pieces
Solid understanding of financial, economic and investment concepts, asset management industry and products
Strong quantitative skills, ability to understand a client mindset
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Excellent skills using MS Excel and PowerPoint tools. Ability to inform process efficiencies
Highly flexible; comfortable working with ambiguity, frequently changing deadlines and minimal supervision
Thrives working both independently and as a team member
Strong project management skills and ability to coordinate editorial projects with multiple departments
Ability to strengthen the brand and digital efforts by working with content producers and marketing managers to write and develop digital copy, including engaging articles, teasers and headlines
Bachelor degree or higher in economics, journalism or equivalent preferred with demonstrated experience and success as a writer in the industry
7+ years of investment/financial writing experience
