Credit Risk has primary responsibility for managing the counterparty credit exposures and relationships, i.e. ensuring that all credit-related activities for the Bank's clients are executed, approved, monitored and reported in a manner consistent with the Bank's internal policies and guidelines. This would include frequent client contact to have a current and prospective view of the client, its industry and credit needs; build and maintain an active network throughout the Corporate & Investment Bank to manage the Bank's credit exposure and assist those business units in cross selling the firm.

Main Responsibilities:

  • The Credit Risk Analyst / Associate will be based in Hong Kong with primary responsibility for assisting / managing designated clients in the Hong Kong Credit Portfolio

  • The Credit Risk Analyst / Associate will work closely with the Primary Credit Risk Officer  and Corporate & Investment Banking business partners to assist / manage the Client Credit Relationship

  • Responsibilities include credit due diligence including credit analysis, modeling, client meeting and provide credit risk grading recommendations

  • Research industry, regulatory and other areas as required

  • Post-closing, the incumbent will be responsible for preparing regular credit and portfolio reviews, including monitoring of covenants and borrower undertakings, timely and accurate update of credit lines, tracking of excess and resolving exceptions

  • Support local legal entity risk management requirements in line with local regulations

  • The Credit Risk Associate will be required to work on Loan and ISDA documentation and negotiation - working closely with the Primary Credit Risk Officer, Business partners and internal / external legal team

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal clients and colleagues


Essential Skills / Experience Required:

  • At least 2 - 4 years of experience in a Corporate Banking / Credit role, looking at a portfolio of corporate and FI counterparties

  • Possesses strong quantitative ability in analyzing and interpreting financial statements, draws well-thought out conclusions from analysis, and is Credit trained

  • Knowledge / experience of trade finance and loans structuring and documentation (APLMA), derivative products and documentation (including ISDA and CSA) is preferred

  • Familiarity with corporate and investment banking financial products and market dynamics

  • Proactive and ability to work independently and deliver in a timely and accurate manner

  • Strong decision making capabilities and the ability to identify problems and propose solutions

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Highly organized, motivated and hard working

Education / professional qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or above) in Business, Finance, Accounting or Economics from a reputable institution

  • Professional Credit Certification and/or Chartered Financial Analyst is a plus

  • Language requirements: Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) reading / speaking skill is preferred, but not
