We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Senior Project Manager, Transformation.
Principal responsibilities
  • Plan, mobilise and direct projects of high complexity and scale from project definition to closure.
  • Responsible for the end to end planning and delivery of one or more projects proactively balancing scope, schedule, budget, risks, team, outcomes and benefits. Projects can be standalone or form part of a programme.
  • Responsible for deploying Global Transformation Project Management Framework and other Global Transformation Business Transformation Frameworks within their project.
  • Work closely with the Programme Manager, Global Portfolio Management Office and Portfolio Director to ensure alignment of their project with the wider change portfolio and the Group Strategy, Values and Behaviours.
  • Ensure the baselined scope, requirements, benefits, schedule and budget are managed as outlined in Business Transformation Frameworks. Identify and intervene where there is slippage and variance from plan.
  • Ensure compliance with external regulatory requirements, internal control standards and Group compliance policy.
  • Demonstrate effective financial skills to develop a detailed business case, including investments, detailed benefits and link to overall finances of the business.
  • Oversee the tracking of project risks, issues, dependencies, operating and capital spend.  Assess the impact on the benefit realisation for the project and take action to minimise impact, actively challenging and removing obstacles.
  • Influence and collaborate with stakeholder and business partners to drive the right project outcomes. Represent the project team at discussions regarding project prioritisation and to create buy in for risk mitigation and contingency plans.  Influence sponsor and stakeholder buy in to plans, key commitments and changes against baseline as they arise and stakeholder sign off for deliverables.  Articulate to stakeholders the targeted benefits and takes joint responsibility for benefits realization.
  • Drive and manage the implementation of the change, to ensure business benefits are realised and that the transition from current state to target state is smooth. Ensuring that the organisation and other change audiences are ready, willing and able to function in the new business environment.
  • Formally close project, assess stakeholder satisfaction, and capture feedback, key learns from each project and feed back into Global Transformation methodologies and best practice. 
  • Set the pace and operating rhythm, driving a culture of achievement and ensures pace by identifying and removing barriers to project success.  Promote pace and energy within the team and leads by example.  Mobilise the project team and allocate tasks and roles.
  • Responsible for the people and team management role for a group of junior resources and project managers within the projects and programmes.  Set expectations, share best practice and manage, monitor, coach and develop team members to ensure that they maximise their performance, meet the required standards.
  •  Alongside project delivery responsibilities, the Senior Project Manager may have a line responsibility for a pool of Project Managers including people management, performance management, resource management and professional development.

Qualifications

Requirements
  • Post Graduate in a related field or commensurate practical experience
  • Ideally with professional certification in project, programme or change management
  • Excellent understanding of the project lifecycle
  • Excellent understanding of Global Transformation Business Transformation Frameworks and best practice techniques.
  • A thorough understanding of the purpose, value, culture and fundamentals of Global Transformation
  • Strong understanding of banking and understanding of how change drives benefits for HSBC, its customers and other stakeholders
  • Strong working knowledge of all functional areas in an operational or consulting capacity 
  • Proven ability in successfully driving and implementing large scale, complex global and regional change initiatives 
  • Multiple strong examples of the delivery of on time and on budget projects that achieve business case stated outcomes, a driver with bias towards delivery at pace and controlling project outcomes
  • In depth experience of working in a banking environment and change projects implementation, change management and benefits realisation
  • Proven experience of positive, challenging interactions with Senior Executives across the Group 
  • Proven ability in developing cohesive working relationships with business partners, and working across multi disciplinary and multicultural diverse work environments 
  • Successful experience in developing and retaining critical talent and building an effective leadership team
  • Strong people manager and broad experience in managing large teams of different work streams
