Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, financial crime and regulatory compliance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.
We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Senior Credit and Risk Manager, Credit Cards.
Principal responsibilities
  • Support Head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management Risk, Hong Kong in managing the risk profile and loan impairment of the cards portfolio
  • Support in the oversight and control of the credit card portfolio in Hong Kong.
  • Proactively manage the credit policy framework and ensure it’s updated in line with economic and portfolio trends as well as regulations and global and regional policies and guidelines.
  • Act as the primary contact point for Hong Kong Credit Card business to develop credit card programs and products, and manage each product program to achieve Hong Kong’s profitability goals within the risk appetite.
  • Develop and embed risk strategy pertaining to credit cards to build a long term sustainable portfolio within risk appetite.
  • Manage the performance and develop the skills of the cards credit team which consists of policy managers and credit approval managers.
  • Ensure no audit internal or external fail for credit card portfolios and all audit and other internal review action items are closed properly on time.
  • Escalate credit cards emerging risk issues timely and ensure appropriate mitigating actions are devised and implemented swiftly engaging all key stakeholders.
  • Leverage data, analytics, models, bureau and systems to drive automated and timely actions for initial approval, proactive cross sell and exposure reductions.
  • Drive delivery and implementation of retail risk systems and strategies related to cards


  • A wealth of experience in Banking or Credit Risk
  • Relevant professional experience in retail credit management, accounting, Retail Banking & Wealth Management
  • Significant Portfolio management experience
  • Experience in managing senior stakeholders
  • Previous knowledge and understanding of Credit Card lifecycle
  • Previous knowledge and ability to apply analytics to business solutions
  • Excellent communications and leadership skills
