The Remediation Management Office serves as the unit responsible for designing, building and maintaining an integrated Financial Crime Risk Remediation Programme for Hong Kong. It is the bank-wide coordinator and strategic lead for the execution of key control efforts to ensure a single voice, coordinated strategy, and focused execution on remediating financial crime risk in Hong Kong. 
 
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Head of Quality Assurance and Sustainability, Remediation Management Office
Principal responsibilities
  • Responsible for the maintenance of an effective financial crime risk and control environment via the execution of a Quality Assurance programme through the Remediation Management Office.
  • Undertake and report on quality assurance reviews to test adequacy of Financial Crime Risk remediation undertaken by the lines of businesses and function.  As part of the review, the sustainability of the changes made will need to be critically assessed and challenged. 
  • Work closely with the other Assurance Functions to ensure the efficiency of assurance reviews. This role will also manage the dedicated Remediation Management Office Financial Crime Risk subject matter experts. These subject matter experts will work with the Project Execution team during the design phase as well as the Quality Assurance team during the testing phase.
  • Develop and drive delivery of the quality assurance strategy, implement communications strategy for standards, systems and policies locally regarding Financial Crime Risk.
  • Develop and operate a risk-based Remediation Management Office quality control testing program that constitutes an effective compliance assurance framework for Financial Crime Risk in Hong Kong.
  • Act as a counsel to the Remediation Management Office Project Managers to ensure that global strategies, systems, policies and standards relating to Financial Crime Risk are understood and embedded in Hong Kong.
  • Ensure that Hong Kong’s exposure to regulatory and reputational risks are highlighted and managed at a country level, in a commercially sensible, practical and cost effective manner.
  • Assess and report on the adequacy of Financial Crime Risk remediation efforts.  Particular focus will be on Root Cause Analysis as well as the effectiveness and sustainability of the controls.
  • Provide expert knowledge and guidance to stakeholders in managing material Financial Crime Risk issues that arise.
  • Support the Head Governance & Internal Control in the provision of reports to stakeholders.
  • Develop key relationships with the second and third lines of defense in Hong Kong to ensure a coordinated approach to control testing throughout the territory.
  • Continually reassess the Hong Kong Financial Crime Risk remediation efforts taking account of changing market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
