Financial Crime Compliance aligns current activities within Global Risk and helps to build these into a more integrated framework to conduct Customer Due Diligence which enables HSBC to manage financial crime risk more effectively. It builds stronger controls to improve the way Financial Crime Compliance risks are managed in order to spot gaps as well as trends so that the team can take action. It proactively gathers and analyses financial intelligence in a smart way so that suspicious transactions, activities or connections can be identified and we can adequately protect our customers from the threat of financial crime.
We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Assistant Operational Intelligence Manager.
Principal responsibilities
  • Use a range of innovative systems to undertake qualitative analysis of the banks client relationships to identify intelligence on financial crime risks
  • Provide timely and reliable intelligence on potential financial crime risks to improve risk management decisions within the bank
  • Work in a new and developing department using new technology
  • Rapidly and accurately understand complex business structures and the potential financial crime risks inherent within them
  • Develop a large body of contextual knowledge on wholesale banking sectors and the specific financial crime risks associated with them
  • Identify and drive enhancements to the systems and business processes to drive greater operational effectiveness and increase the return on investment
  • Develop and maintain strong and productive relationships with a diverse set of team members


  • Strong analytical skills ideally qualitative and quantitative
  • Demonstrable aptitude for analysing complex multifaceted banking relationships
  • A keen interest in business and current affairs including financial crime
  • Resourceful creative and inquisitive approach to highly complex tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong team player
  • Highly motivated
  • Experience or knowledge of wholesale banking
  • Experience of intelligence analytics and investigations
  • Experience of information technology development and data modelling
  • Foreign language capability an advantage
The chosen candidate for this role will be required to undergo enhanced vetting.
