Financial Crime Compliance aligns current activities within Global Risk and helps to build these into a more integrated framework to conduct Customer Due Diligence which enables HSBC to manage financial crime risk more effectively. It builds stronger controls to improve the way Financial Crime Compliance risks are managed in order to spot gaps as well as trends so that the team can take action. It proactively gathers and analyses financial intelligence in a smart way so that suspicious transactions, activities or connections can be identified and we can adequately protect our customers from the threat of financial crime.
We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Assistant Financial Crime Compliance Manager Broking Services.
Principal responsibilities
  • In support of the Senior Financial Crime Compliance and Regulatory Compliance Manager, the role holder has the responsibility for implementation, of all aspects of Financial Crime Compliance including driving coordination and execution of the various Financial Crime Compliance work streams and assurance in Asia pacific, while ensuring alignment with Global Standards.
  • The role requires partnership with broking services and leadership team, interfaces with both Risk and General Compliance and has responsibility for driving the implementation of policy arising out of Global Standards Committee. It will provide policy advice related to broking business.
  • The role needs to be aware of regulatory changes to ensure proactive communication with business and develop appropriate policy and framework to manage the changes in Hong Kong.
  • The role requires partnership with business to drive and accelerate the execution of Financial Crime Compliance programmes that directly impact business performance.  This role is accountable for the implementation of Financial Crime Compliance policies in to the business and as such it will require close collaboration with Risk and various Business functions.
  • The jobholder has to assist and support Senior Financial Crime and Regulatory Crime Compliance Manager on compliance matters to ensure that the bank conducts business in compliance with all relevant external requirements, internal codes and policies as well as group standards.
  • The primarily responsibility of the jobholder is to support the Senior Manager and Manager on compliance monitoring and surveillance duties.
  • Successfully complete Anti-Money Laundering and Sanctions training and post-course assessment, as required

Qualifications

Requirements
  • A degree in the relevant subject including law, accounting, finance or business
  • Familiar with local compliance laws and regulations
  • Working well with people and under pressure
  • A good knowledge of compliance framework
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • The nature of the job requires the holder to be able to work independently and have a sound knowledge of local compliance laws and regulations.
  • Personal integrity and good analytical and communication skills are essential.
  • Strong character and good inter-personal skills are essential in positioning Compliance as a supportive and business friendly service.
  • A Cantonese speaking individual with good Chinese and English language ability is certainly a prerequisite given the operating environment
The chosen candidate for this role will be required to undergo enhanced vetting. Subject to local laws, this will require the individual to satisfactorily pass a series of additional checks as part of the recruitment process and on an ongoing basis, if appointed to the role.
