Ground Support Engineering Limited (GSEL) is the leading service provider at Hong Kong International Airport for the repair and maintenance of both ground support equipment (GSE) and for unit load devices (ULD).
The GSEL history traces back to 1961 as an airport sub division of Associated Engineers Limited and has since transitioned to its current format of a joint venture company of Cathay Pacific Airways and Jardine Aviation Services Limited.
With extensive industry experience and a highly skilled workforce the basic service of maintaining and repairing of GSE has been developed into a market leading role in terms of equipment performance monitoring and fine tuning of the maintenance process.
The range of services provided span from simple adhoc repairs to full service level agreements (SLA), guaranteeing equipment availabilities according to client operational demand.
Under our SLA's, based upon a maintenance regime tuned to the level of equipment operational use, cost reductions of over 40% in maintenance spend have been achieved for our primary clients, leading to our market dominance in HKIA and an increasing level of international recognition.
Our primary driver is not to simply win more work but create a WIN-WIN situation by reducing perspective client's overall maintenance spend. The principle of life cycle costing and performance monitoring is actively applied within GSEL to ensure any cost reductions achieved are sustainable throughout the operational lifetime of equipment.
As part of an ongoing program of service improvement the critical function of supply chain management of spare parts has been contracted to the worlds leading GSE parts supplier Sage Parts Inc providing direct access to a network of 25 distribution facilities and an inventory value of over US$15millon. The Sage Parts regional Asia hub is located on GSEL premises and brings a high level of sophistication to the supply chain management process.
GSEL has been providing ULD repair services to airlines since 1984 under the licensing regime of the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department HKAR-145 and subsequently the Federal Aviation Authority FAR-145.
GSEL has developed an in-house real-time ULD repair management system and through the client web portal provides an on-line ability to track repair status of their equipment from any location world wide.
Ongoing developments in GSEL include the further enhancement to the client access web portal and a transition to a fully functional fleet management role providing equipment operational leasing services.
