Financial Service Organization - Core Business Services - Region Finance Lead

Location: CN-Hong Kong

Qualifications

Position summary:
 
The Region Finance Lead (RFL) is the Finance Relationship Owner (FRO) for the Regional Managing Partner (RMP). They serve as a business partner and strategic advisor to the RMP and Region Leadership team, providing critical thinking on regional strategic direction, operating performance and financial results. They serve as a key member of the Region Leadership team. The RFL is expected to understand the clients’ needs and coordinate deliver of relevant finance services in a seamless fashion by collaborating with the other key FRO roles such as, the Region Service Line Advisor and Regional Markets Finance Advisory. They also will team with various Finance support structures for analytical support, functional experience, and execution Finance support teams provide reporting services, transaction processing, and sharing of leading practices.
 
Essential functions of the job:
  • Acts as the primary advisor for finance related matters to the Region Managing Partner and their respective leadership team of one of the fastest growing regions
  • Ability to provide forward looking insights/analyses to help support critical decision making by regional leadership
  • Identify and execute numerous improvement opportunities/best practices to support the operations of the region
  • Ability to cultivate strong executive level relationships within the region, across the area and within the finance community
  • Drives the successful implementation of the Global Finance vision, aligned with Vision 2020, and overall strategy to perform as a single common and integrated Finance organization
  • Aligns the regional operating structure with the Global Finance structure and people strategy, and build finance capabilities by attracting, retaining and managing a value oriented workforce needed to support an increasingly complex operating environment
  • Provides region-specific guidance and oversight to the Region Service Line Finance Advisor; promotes sharing of information and teaming across the Region FROs
  • Provides region-specific guidance and oversight to the Region Markets Finance Advisor; promotes sharing of information and teaming across the other Region FROs
  • Supports the Group CFO and communicates region-specific perspectives
  • Teams with the Area Finance Lead to share/obtain insights and contribute the regional view of performance and the drivers of performance
Analytical/decision-making responsibilities:
  • Strong analytical skills coupled with decision making capabilities are essential for the RFL role. Common areas where the RFL will apply these skills are:
    • Leading global finance change initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region
    • Align the delivery of financial services to global goals in the context of local/regional business needs
    • Provide knowledge and business insights to global finance from a regional perspective
    • Establish solid relationships with Finance country representatives
    • Teaming with other regional key FROs to ensure Exceptional Client Service is provided to the RMP and Region Leadership team
    • Assessing the drivers of financial results with constant focus on improvement and rapid course correction where necessary
    • Present and communicate a crisp view of the key regional financial metrics to the RMP and agree next steps/decisions
    • Proactively advise the RMP on expected financial performance vs. plan based upon analytics such as trend analysis and modelling of forward looking scenarios

Supervision Responsibilities:
 
The RFL will provide leadership to all regional finance staff, to ensure Exceptional Client Service to RMP. They will also collaborate with the Group CFO SL to agree on hiring, goal setting and performance evaluation for Region SL Finance Advisors as well as collaborates with Global Markets Finance or Area Markets Finance Advisor to agree on hiring, goal setting and performance evaluation for Region Markets Finance Advisors
 
To qualify, you must meet the following requirements:
  • Degree holder in Accounting, Finance or any related discipline, holders of CPA qualification or other professional certification will be an advantage
  • A minimum ten years of relevant working experience in sizeable organizations, team management experience and regional exposure is preferred
  • A general understanding of the external services offered by the firm and the overall area/regional markets landscape would be beneficial
  • Able to operate to support the applicable time zone
  • Regular travel to main EY locations within the region
  • Well-organized, self-driven, committed, able to work under pressure and a good team player
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills with decision-making capabilities
  • Excellent command in both English and Chinese; fluency in Putonghua will be an added advantage
