ERM HONG KONG:

After more than 30 years in operation, ERM’s Hong Kong office draws upon a wealth of multidisciplinary experience. Assessing and mitigating the environmental, social, health impacts of development projects in often challenging in sensitive parts of Hong Kong and other parts of the world. With a team of environmental engineers, archaeologists, marine scientists and ecologists, ERM’s Environmental Management Team has Hong Kong’s greatest strength and depth in environmental and social consulting.  We deliver projects for utility companies, contractors, government, engineers, architects, planners, developers and transport corporations and have over three decades of experience in Hong Kong.  ERM’s Impact Assessors are also highly experienced in producing ESHIA Reports to meet the Equator Principals and IFC standards and have delivered this service throughout the Asia Pacific region.

IAP PRACTICE BRIEF

ERM’s Impact Assessment & Planning practice focuses on supporting development of projects in power, infrastructure, chemicals and natural resources. Our goal is always the same: assisting our clients in achieving project success, from planning through construction and operation, while meeting expectations for assessment and management of impacts on environmental, social, health and cultural resources. By helping clients bring these issues into the project planning process early, we seek to help our clients meet environmental/social performance objectives, enable savings in capital and operating costs, and avoid significant approval and other delays.

ERM combines experience with global standards, such as the Equator Principles and International Finance Corporation’s Performance Standards, with a thorough understanding of local regulatory systems and cultural sensitivities. We apply state-of-the-art assessment tools, from GIS to modeling and visualization techniques. We have also developed our own Impact Assessment Standard, which we use to maintain consistency and quality when other standards do not apply in a particular situation.

ERM’s Impact Assessment & Planning practice has been ERM’s highest growth practice globally, growing over 20% per year for the past 5 years alone. The practice currently has over 1,000 professionals globally, representing the full range of technical disciplines, with sector experience across the board. What ERM’s practice is perhaps best known for, is supporting some of the most challenging development projects in the world. It is this reputation that attracts and retains the highly skilled consultants who comprise ERM’s Impact Assessment & Planning team.

ROLE PROFILE:

  • Coordinate an Environmental Monitoring and Audit Programme for a large-scale infrastructure development project

  • Liaise with the client regarding environmental issues, preparation of environmental reports and management of monitoring activities

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor degree in environmental related discipline

  • Experience in construction site management, environmental consultancy or environmental monitoring is essential

  • Good knowledge of biological statistical analysis would be an advantage

  • Strong communication skills and ability to deal with management and operators at all levels

  • Excellent report writing skills and ability to work in a team

  • Good command in written and spoken English and Chinese
