This role is a critical change delivery role is based in the Hong Kong office as part of the Market and Liquidity Risk Management (MLRM) department. The candidate will report to the Regional Head of MLRM / Hong Kong CRO, and will support the entire regional MLRM team, across all product lines and geographic locations. 
The candidate will drive the delivery of key change projects that focus on enhancing the governance and control environments of both APAC MRLM and HK CRO. The successful delivery of these projects will be instrumental in supporting the APAC Division’s growth strategy and meeting the increasing demands of the regional and global regulators.
Market and Liquidity Risk Management Department
MLRM is CS’s independent Market and Liquidity Risk Management function.  Some of the key functions of MLRM include:
  • Measuring the market risk exposure of the firm using a variety of tools including, sensitivity analysis, scenarios, Value at Risk (VaR) and Economic Risk Capital (ERC) CS’s in house capital measure
  • Monitoring risk exposure against limits and the effectiveness of trading risk flags and Market Risk limits via quarterly review
  • Managing risk exposure by ensuring effective risk measures and appropriate MR limits
  • Testing model effectiveness by back-testing VaR vs P&L
  • Verification of CS’s in house product valuation models
  • Ensuring effectiveness of meeting regulatory requirements, including creating and maintaining a sound operational control environment
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The candidate will have the following responsibilities relating to the following aspects of the role, across all product lines:
  • Be the lead on key change projects to improve APAC MLRM's risk monitoring and control environment in order to allow APAC MLRM to appropriately manage the market risk of the expanding APAC Division
  • The successful candidate will be required to deliver projects that offer enhanced and scalable, day-to-day risk management, monitoring, analysis & reporting capabilities
  • In particular, to ensure that MLRM have a comprehensive and holistic view of market risk across both the private and investment banking arms, by identifying and remediating missing or broken risk feeds into Market Risk's key risk monitoring tools; the intended outcome is to enable MLRM to be able increase its effective and efficient management of the consolidated market risk for the whole of the APAC Division
  • Preparation and delivery, as assigned, of presentation to management, governance bodies and others
  • Provide detailed ad hoc quantitative analysis and deep dive reviews
  • Participate and contribute to the various daily and weekly risk meetings
  • Communicate with Front Office and Risk Management staff and give insight into drivers of risk profile change
  • Continue enhancing market risk control processes and risk reporting information
  • Ad hoc projects / tasks to support Regional Head MLRM / HK CRO

You Offer...

  • A suitable candidate would be educated to degree level, preferably in a numerate subject
  • They should have minimum 8+ years working in a professional environment (e.g. Investment Bank, Asset Management Firm, Big 4 Accounting Firm)
  • An advanced degree in finance or a quantitative science and/or a professional qualification would be desirable
  • Demonstratable experience at leading and deliverying on change initiatives is a must; on risk-related change initiatives would be desirable
  • Experience and understanding of various financial instruments across different asset classes is highly preferable
  • The candidate should be familiar with varied derivative instruments and their characteristics (e.g. use, pricing, risk)
  • They must be able to rapidly grasp, apply and explain detailed technical concepts
  • A good understanding of global financial markets with specific focus on the Asia-Pacific region is required
  • The candidate should be comfortable working with computers
  • Experience of programming (VBA within Excel and/or C++) is preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint are compulsory
  • The candidate should have excellent English oral and written skills, including excellent presentation skills
  • As this is a new role, the candidate should be a highly disciplined individual, self-motivated, delivery focused with the ability to work independently and multi-task
  • They should have the capability to balance strategic objectives with the need to make interim tactical choices in order to sustain progress
  • They must be able to rapidly grasp, apply and explain detailed technical concepts
  • They will be required to produce high quality work, under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • As the candidate will be dealing with both junior and senior members of the firm on a regular basis, he or she will need to have a professional manner with good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to build relationships with a diverse group of both technical and non-technical resources
