Location: Hong Kong-Hong Kong-Hong Kong

  1. Acting as a core member of the Asia-Pacific legal team responsible for supporting Credit Suisse's investment banking and capital markets (IBCM) business. This involves activities undertaken across the region, including North Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia and Australia/New Zealand.

  2. Providing legal advice with respect to M&A, debt capital markets, equity capital markets and other investment banking mandates, including being primary coverage lawyer for these mandates. This includes, among other things, assistance in preparing, reviewing and negotiating engagement letters and indemnities and transaction-specific documentation (in conjunction with external counsel where relevant).

  3. Providing assistance and advice on legal issues arising out of activities undertaken by the Asia-Pacific IBCM business.

  4. Handling services provided by external counsel, and responsibility for ensuring the quality of those services.

  5. Working closely with IBCM Compliance, APAC Control Room and with peers within the General Counsel Division (both within and outside of the region) as appropriate (including for example, participation in new business initiatives).

  6. Identifying and appropriately handling issues of legal and regulatory risk to Credit Suisse, including providing timely raising of matters requiring senior input and approval.

  7. Helping to supervise support provided to the IBCM business by paralegal in Pune.

Qualifications

  1. You have strong communications skills.
  2. Written and oral proficiency in Mandarin is helpful for interaction with stakeholders and for the review of Chinese-language documentation.
  3. You have excellent drafting and critical thinking skills.
  4. You have experience in relevant business areas (i.e. M&A, DCM and ECM). Your experience working at an international investment bank is helpful.
  5. You possess strong familiarity with the legal/regulatory regime applicable to investment banking activities in key Asia-Pacific jurisdictions.
  6. You have good working knowledge of HK SFO, SFC Code of Conduct, HK Sponsor rules and experience with US securities laws is helpful.
  7. You have experienced and capable of working in team environments. Ability to effectively handle internal and external partners and external counsel.
  8. You possess the ability to handle time and prioritise matters effectively.
  9. Strong self-confidence, including the confidence to provide analysis and make decisions under time pressure.
  10. You are dedicated and possess the initiative to drive projects and matters forward to resolution.
