The candidate will join the Front Office development team working for the leading Equity Derivatives franchise in the APAC region.
The IT team is a key partner to the Equity Derivatives business in APAC and has been a major contributor to its recent success. In order to benefit further from the growth potential in the region, additional funding has been allocated for us to grow further.
A number of new and exciting projects have been initiated, enabling successful candidates to directly contribute to the success of the Business. Naturally, project details are commercially-sensitive but all our projects exhibit the following common features:

Role Summary:

As an agile application developer the successful candidate will work closely with business users and other members of the development team to provide quality systems that will: improve productivity, decrease operational risk, enable the business to expand and make users smile. They will be working on high profile applications and will have the opportunity to shape the future technical direction and take ownership for functional components.

You Offer...

  • Good degree in IT (but will consider a strong Mathematics, Engineering, Arts or other Science degree, or equivalent Commercial experience)
  • 10+ years commercial software development, predominantly Java and exposure to more recent technologies
  • Direct people management and personal development of a team of highly skilled developers
  • Understanding of test-driven, agile software methodologies and associated tools/technologies
  • Proven ability to work well in delivering complex systems in a changing fast paced environment
  • The ability to develop intuitive and robust user interfaces which improve user experience
  • Sound knowledge of application architecture and design
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills. Understand concepts of and will have worked under source code configuration management policies and tools
  • Strong team-building, interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to communicate effectively
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • A passion for technology outside the work environment, open mind and the ability to learn, teach and adapt quickly
  • Knowledge or experience of agile development (e.g. XP, SCRUM, Automated testing, Kanban…)
  • Experience developing and testing using an Object Oriented language e.g. Java, Groovy, Scala, C#, Ruby
  • Experience developing and testing using JavaScript (server and client side), AngularJS, React, and HTML5
  • Experience designing solutions using NoSql data stores MongoDB, Cassandra, Elastic, Redis
  • Strong client relationship skills with a strong customer service-oriented attitude
  • Prior experience of line management
  • Financial knowledge of derivative products their valuation and the generation of risk
