Pricing/Product Actuary

Location: Hong Kong-Hong Kong Island-Causeway Bay

Job Purpose: 
This position is the pricing and product subject matter expert, reviewing the product design and profitability of individual insurance products across Cigna International Markets.  This role involves an analysis of the product features, risk profile, and risk / reward trade-off of various product designs.  The candidate should possess deep actuarial expertise and have familiarity with product designs distributed through a variety of channels such as Telemarketing, Direct to Consumer and Face to Face.  The position will also provide support to International Markets in assessing business development opportunities, M&A as well as measuring the effectiveness of solicitation cost investments.  This position involves close collaboration with local country actuaries and CFO’s, Global Office actuaries, and Cigna’s US based corporate actuaries.  The position is based in Hong Kong.
Critical Tasks and Expected Contributions/Results:  
  • Reviews product design and profit testing work completed by local country actuarial teams.
  • Reviews financial terms of potential partnerships and business development opportunities
  • Provides leadership and direction to country actuarial teams regarding best practices, modeling, and processes for the effective design and analysis of products.
  • Appropriately filter product development ideas to identify products that align with strategy
  • Summarizes and communicates necessary information to corporate actuarial audiences.
  • Reviews existing processes and/or systems and makes recommendations on process improvement or changes.
  • Will define and validate simple to complex tests to validate model functionality and reasonableness at a high level.
  • Will create summary communications to key stakeholders with consideration of modeling and risk mitigation strategies.

Qualifications

Professional Experience/ Qualifications:  
  • 5 years or more of post-qualification experience in insurance
  • Understanding of technical aspects of insurance product design
  • Pricing background is an advantage
  • Experience performing multiple projects in tandem
  • Excellent command of English
  • Preferred candidate has experience working in a multinational corporation
  • Familiarity with Prophet is a plus
  • Expected to travel up to 20%
 
 
Education:  
 
  • Fully qualified actuary with FSA, FIA, or equivalent designation
  • Completion of a 4 year undergraduate program, preferably in actuarial science or closely related field.
