Client Management Officer, Financial Institutions Coverage

Location: HK-Hong Kong (HK)-Hong Kong

Position Purpose

  • Ensure responsibility for all administrative duties associated with a portfolio of Tail Institutional accounts, in particular Senior Business Officer responsibilities

  • Support FIC IC Senior Relationship Managers in their respective coverage of Financial Institutions

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure Know Your Customer (KYC) and Due Diligence processes, including requesting documents from clients and associated follow-ups, whilst working closely with Client Management team (see further details below in Responsibilities for KYC and ongoing monitoring of customer activities.)

  • Nurture Tail accounts with business opportunities and contribute to the development of the revenues BNP Paribas is generating, especially in Global Markets, BP2S and BNP Paribas Investment Partners products

  • Prepare Call Memos and Call Reports post client meetings and maintain quality client Briefing Memos prior to meeting clients

  • Assist in preparing presentations for Credit Committees, including gathering and analyzing annual reports and other data to help support a credit decision

  • Actively maintain and develop an internal network amongst product partners within the BNP Paribas Group. Work in partnership with business lines to identify problems and design the best solutions for clients

  • Actively maintain and develop a broad and detailed knowledge in respect of products, processes and market awareness applicable to Financial Institutions

  • General administrative duties associated with client coverage including annual reviews, reporting, transaction documents negotiation, client relationship management tools and booked deals including validation by the business lines of the level of contribution

Responsibilities for KYC and ongoing monitoring of customer activities:

  • Must initiate the KYC on boarding process and is responsible to collect the KYC data with support of the Client Management;

  • Is primarily responsible for ensuring that customer due diligence has been completed to a satisfactory standard, and is kept up-to-date;

  • Makes an assessment whether starting a new relationship or maintaining an existing relationship with a customer is appropriate, in respect of the reputation and the money laundering/terrorist financing/sanctions/PEP risks, irrespective of the possible type of business the customer is currently doing or intends to do with the bank or other Financial Institutions. This assessment must be formalized in writing in the KYC package (qualitative [SBO] opinion describing the risks and their mitigants is mandatory in all cases);

  • Uses the KYC scoring grid and his/her judgment to determine the sensitivity, assisted by the Client Management team.  He/she provides the Client Management team with the knowledge/details they need when contacts with customers are required;

  • Submits the customers he/she qualifies as “High Sensitive” to the CAC (Customer Acceptance Committee) and provides the CAC with all information and documentation it may require;

  • Employs his/her best efforts to maintain a thorough knowledge of his/her customers from available documentary sources and regular direct contacts with them.

  • Keeps the KYC up-to date, and must trigger an ad-hoc review as soon as necessary, in particular in case of becoming aware of any material negative news.
