BlackRock - FP&A Associate

Location: Asia Pacific-China-Hong Kong

The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team plays a critical role in the management of the firm, both as a strategic partner to BlackRock’s management and as a leader of the Firm-wide financial planning and corporate investment allocation process.  FP&A supports all functions across the company by providing quality analysis and reporting that generate insights into business trends and economics, and in turn supports the CFO office by aggregating business activities into short and long-term financial plans.  The focus of the position is to provide the businesses financial support including planning, reporting, forecasting and business analysis, working closely with the business managers to help them make sound business decisions.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of FP&A for the APAC region in providing insights and value-added analyses to the CFO, COO and Chairman of the APAC region which would aid in decision making
  • Support the preparation and presentation of business and strategic reviews and other presentations – generally, but not limited to the Strategy team
  • Central contact & co-ordinator of APAC monthly report production, including country, AUM, sales, expense and headcount reporting
  • Support the forecast and budget processes by acting as the point of coordination across countries and functions and providing support to the APAC FP&A team as a conduit for queries to regional and global colleagues
  • Drive continuous improvement around processes, with focus on evolving processes to gain efficiencies, including further transition of tasks / processes to the India support function
  • Understand global models for revenue and expense forecast processes, ensuring forecasts are accurately reflected in regional reporting.  Liaise with regional colleagues to flag / resolve issues when they arise.
  • Assist with finance projects and ad-hoc analytics requests from the regional business as needed
  • Maintain high level interaction & communication with colleagues both in global and regional FP&A teams

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of progressively responsible experience in financial planning and analysis, including specific experience providing FP&A business partner support
  • Experience in the investment management or financial services industry / investment banking analyst
  • Ability to apply strong financial analytics to solving business problems, provide trusted partner support
  • Strong computer skills, including advanced Excel, financial modelling, and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication skills - must have the ability to develop and present clear and concise analysis with recommendations.
  • Ability to work effectively at all levels of an organization – with peers, managers, and senior executives
  • Able to work independently as a hands-on individual contributor, and extract information creatively from a variety of sources
  • Organizational skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Highly reliable and dependable, able to build and demonstrate trust and desire to learn
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; MBA, CFA or equivalent desired
