Senior Manager, Supply Chain Operational Design, Regional Supply Chain Services Asia Pacific

Location: HK-Hong Kong-Hong Kong

Located in Hong Kong, BASF’s regional headquarters oversees more than 16,000 employees at about 100 sites across Asia Pacific. In addition to regional business units, Hong Kong office also houses regional functional units including Corporate Affairs, Finance and Controlling, Human Resources, Management Consulting, Procurement and Supply Chain Services.
Objectives of the Position
  • Reporting to Vice President – Regional Supply Chain Services Asia Pacific, the incumbent will manage team of experts across Asia Pacific in developing and optimizing supply chain services design and networks for efficiency improvement, cost optimization and service delivery enhancement.
Job Responsibilities
  • Manage, lead and develop a team to design, develop and implement new & enhance existing operational logistics services by identifying business requirements and turning them into competitive customer solutions
  • Direct the strategic design and implementation of supply chain networks around business requirements by actively identifying optimization potentials, taking responsibility for turning viable concepts into competitive customer solutions, supporting business growth plan, and driving logistics cost and inventory optimization
  • Direct Transportation Management experts in developing a framework and consolidating business requirements, aligning with process owners and Business Solution Consultants and supporting the Business Experts for impact analysis, training and UAT
  • Supervise the management of supply chain networks on regional and country level by methodically monitoring capacity, service specifications, performance and contingency of existing distribution set-ups, assessing materials flows & processes with business units, for realizing adaptive networks and improved service reliability
  • Supervise the realization of regional 3PL Demand Management for the business unit requirements, executing the mandate for service quality of logistics services, contributing to the strategic planning of tender procedure, monitoring of services after tendering, supporting supply chain operations teams in NCM & Quality feedback meeting to ensure the agreed service levels.
  • Direct Customer Order Management experts in enhancing the framework of transactional processes from receiving customer purchase requests to managing sales orders by working closely with operational Customer Care teams
  • Support the implementation of strategic initiatives and measures related to supply chain shared service operations, service catalogue, regional supply chain strategy
  • Support investment decision-making during early project stage and implementation, i.e. starting from preparing logistics concept and initial study, aligning resources, and keeping accurate view of new investment projects
  • Support Mergers & Acquisitions experts in supply chain related activities, i.e. providing guidance & advice on business models, defining service specifications, aligning synergies, performing due diligence, and post-go-live support
Requirements
  • Holder of Bachelor degree in Engineering or Business Administration. Master Degree preferred
  • At least 10 years relevant working experience in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Project Management with at least 5 years of team leadership experience  
  • Advanced knowledge of Logistics and Supply Chain Management
  • Experienced in leading teams in different locations regionally
  • Superb understanding of logistics service providers and the market in Asia Pacific
  • Strong communication and presentation skills in English
