Senior Manager, Supply Chain Digitization, Monomers Asia Pacific

Location: HK-Hong Kong-Hong Kong

Located in Hong Kong, BASF’s Asia Pacific headquarters oversees more than 18,000 employees at about 100 production sites and 125 sales offices across the region. In addition to a number of regional business units, the Hong Kong office also houses regional functional units including Corporate Affairs, Finance and Controlling, Human Resources, Management Consulting, Procurement and Supply Chain Services.
Objectives of the Position
  • Reporting to Vice Director, Supply Chain Management (SCM) the incumbent will
    • Bring in new ideas and innovative practices to reinvent the business unit Logistics and Supply Chain Operations
    • Globally consolidate and lead the implementation digitization strategy and projects
    • Research opportunities for supply chain data acquisition and new uses for existing data to harvest improvement
    • Support sustainable expertise development in the area of Supply Chain Digitization advancement
Job Responsibilities
  • Reinvent the business unit Supply Chain Management (SCM) to achieve high level of Digitization with attractive return or benefit
    • Providing expert advice on latest technology and best practices and bridge the gap between business needs and IT solutions in the SCM, and support evaluation against specific user requirement
    • Build a digitization benchmarking process and display maturity for ongoing advancement
    • Work with local project managers, and BASF 4.0 teams to develop the proposal for Management review e.g. conduct pre-study to assess business case and potential solution matching
  • Implement the global Digitization Strategy and Project
    • Run the global project management office to drive digitization planning, prioritization, approval application, execution, performance metrics and documentation
    • Align with other workstreams like Operation Excellence, Smart Manufacturing and other functional experts
    • Support customer & logistics vendor strategy
    • Establish and operation a digital platform for project steering and communication globally
  • Supply Chain Data Analytics and Engineering
    • Promote use of advanced data analysis tools, skills and knowledge to extract value from data
    • Collaborate with Supply Chain to research data acquisition opportunities like process performance indicator for process automation, risk management database, interactive inventory forecast, logistics volume and cost forecasting and other predictive analytical application
    • Support the development of quantitative optimization capability in planning to maximize profit and minimize cost
  • Digitization Expertise Development
    • Coach and mentor community member to identify, develop and nurture new human capital to fill the talent pipeline for continuous advancement
    • Design, organize or conduct technical trainings to grow awareness and knowhow
    • Active networking and collaboration with external resources
Requirements
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Chemistry, Information Technology, Data Science, Decision Analytics, Operation Research or related disciplines
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in leading IT/digitization transformation projects, strategy development or governance review
  • Working experience with industry 4.0 or digitization technology like IoT, remote sensing, cloud computing, logistics visibility Big Data and data engineering, logistics automation, logistics system design etc.
  • Candidate with supply chain operation experienced is a plus; Chemical industry exposure will be a strong advantage
  • Understanding of leading digitization practices, performance drivers, and typical issues across a broad set of technology
  • PMP certification required
  • Practical knowledge and experience in SAP is essential
  • Advanced analytical e.g., R, Python data visualization, Power BI, statistical skills, programming languages are advantageous
  • Supply Chain Management training e.g. APICS certification is a plus
  • Able to collaborate and network within matrix and intercultural teams
  • Strong communication skills, creative, analytical and with a consulting mindset
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Frequent traveling and assignments globally required
