Job Description

Planning Process Expert Asia Pacific – BASF 4.0 Horizontal Integration

Location: HK-Hong Kong-Hong Kong

Located in Hong Kong, BASF’s Asia Pacific headquarters oversees more than 18,000 employees at about 100 production sites and 125 sales offices across the region. In addition to a number of regional business units, the Hong Kong office also houses regional functional units including Corporate Affairs, Finance and Controlling, Human Resources, Management Consulting, Procurement and Supply Chain Services.
At the beginning of 2015, BASF launched a project to evaluate the opportunities and impacts of increasing digitization and enhanced digital connectivity. The idea of further improving customer benefits and increasing internal efficiency through digital connectivity clearly aligns with BASF’s Verbund concept. BASF’s Digital Supply Chain Vision leverages our existing foundation, along with digital technologies, to create a connected supply chain. Horizontal Integration has been identified as a core element of BASF’s Digital Supply Chain Vision to enable end-to-end value chain planning.
Objectives of the Position
  • The incumbent will be the planning process expert for Asia Pacific to support the regional implementation manager for Horizontal Integration in the delivery of the Horizontal Integration project across BASF’s value chains and with selected strategic customers and suppliers in Asia Pacific. In your role you are a member of the Asia Pacific implementation core team and have a project reporting line to the regional implementation manager of BASF 4.0 Horizontal Integration. The functional reporting line resides in Global Supply Chain Strategy & Performance – Planning.
Job Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, adjust and design Horizontal Integration planning processes to the business needs
  • Provide training to Regional Business Unit (RBU)’s representatives on how to implement and use the designated Supply Chain analytics management software RapidResponse
  • Conduct BASF and Customer planners training and provide mentorship support
  • Participate in strategic customer/supplier kick-off and assist Regional Implementation manager in preparation and conduction of customer/supplier engagements
  • Perform relevant system set up
  • Coordinate and perform master and transactional data validation
  • Coordinate and perform planning validation activities aligned with software service provider
  • Perform planning validation between different systems
  • Work with site planners and RBU’s representatives to resolve planning validation data abnormalities
  • Perform Data Integration work with customer IT team for data extraction, transfer and processes
  • Provide post-implementation support for BASF and customer planners
  • Bachelor of Art or Science degree or in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business management or related field required. MBA preferred
  • At least 9 years of business experience with a minimum of 5 years of supply chain/logistics management experience
  • Knowledge of ERP planning systems, experience with SAP APO and RapidResponse preferred
  • Knowledge of demand and supply planning processes
  • Strong ability to work with a planner - “speak the planner’s language”
  • Strong ability to analyze data, derive conclusions, and implement solutions
  • Ability to translate business requirements to a technical team and vice versa
  • Ability to translate the planning process and how to effectively utilize a planning application
  • Proven experience in implementing planning systems in a customer/client facing environment
  • Good project management skills with strong attention to project and data details
  • Results orientated
  • Experience with agile and/or lean project management (e.g. Scrum methodology) preferred
  • Knowledgeable and effective trainer in subject matter
  • Effective written and oral communication skills at a planner and management level
  • Willingness to travel
