Manager, Technical Marketing, Polyisobutene, Performance Chemicals Asia Pacific

Location: HK-Hong Kong-Hong Kong

Located in Hong Kong, BASF’s Asia Pacific headquarters oversees more than 18,000 employees at about 100 production sites and 125 sales offices across the region. In addition to a number of regional business units, the Hong Kong office also houses regional functional units including Corporate Affairs, Finance and Controlling, Human Resources, Management Consulting, Procurement and Supply Chain Services.
Objectives of the Position
  • Reporting to Senior Manager, Segment Management, Performance Chemicals Asia Pacific, the incumbent will
    • Responsible for the business development and technical support in the region, covering regional price setting, profit analysis
    • Coordinate between the local sales team, regional business management and global product management to ensure product availability and timely supply to Asian customers
    • Manage the regional business development activities to develop and realize new business opportunities in Asia in close cooperation with country sales and customers
    • Manage the pricing and sourcing process for the low molecular Polyisobutene


Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct product profit and cost analysis, consolidating regional analysis of markets, application segments, as well as down-stream markets and align with Global Marketing in order to manage the profitability of the business
  • Manage regional margins and set target pricing according to targets supported by the Price Margin Manager
  • Interface sales and apply knowledge to enhance business opportunities via product application, meeting customer expectation and solving customer problems
  • Responsible for product training, technical services and follow up with quality issues
  • Search and develop new customers and applications in key growth regions of Japan, China, Korea and ASEAN
  • Ensure product allocation based on defined criteria; setting up product supply and ensure timely and sufficient supply with supply chain team
  • Evaluate product and service marketability in terms of customers’ technical and manufacturing needs and follow up on sales leads
  • Collect and update market intelligence such as cost developments, competitors’ market positions on the product to recommend actions to expand business
  • Identify and evaluate untapped market opportunities and develop systematic approach with country sales, technology and global marketing, product management to capture new business
Requirements
  • Bachelor degree preferably Chemical/ Chemical Engineering; MBA or Master degree in Business Management is highly welcomed
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience, steering regional sales team is highly preferred
  • Candidate with exposure from Polyisotene and polymer chemistry is of top priority
  • Experience working in multinational interdisciplinary environment
  • Strong communications skills, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as being a good team player
  • Fluent in English
