Manager, Strategic Projects, Care Chemicals Asia Pacific

Location: HK-Hong Kong-Hong Kong

Located in Hong Kong, BASF’s Asia Pacific headquarters oversees more than 18,000 employees at about 100 production sites and 125 sales offices across the region. In addition to a number of regional business units, the Hong Kong office also houses regional functional units including Corporate Affairs, Finance and Controlling, Human Resources, Management Consulting, Procurement and Supply Chain Services.

Objectives of the Position
  • Reporting to Head of Regional Strategic Projects & Business Process, Care Chemicals Asia Pacific, the incumbent will
    • Lead strategic project processes including M&A, and provide recommendation on strategic moves in conjunction with supervisor
    • Implement investment project to enable business development, steer and guide the Strategic Business Units (SBUs) on achieving targets
    • Develop and follow up on processes creating value for the units, and establish monitoring process for production capacity and product portfolio analysis in the selected SBUs
Job Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic measures for respective SBUs, regions and markets in close cooperation with SBU representatives
  • Drive and lead virtual community for projects and initiatives in the unit and support the implementation
  • Identify and establish strategic opportunities and gaps in business model, portfolio, capacity, value chain and cost for business development
  • Establish concrete business case with conceptual framework to address the gap, collaborating with key stakeholders
  • Develop strategy-related business processes, ensures consistency and alignment with the standards of the operating division and the region
  • Represent SBUs in discussion on corporate level, working closely with corporate strategic department such as Economic Evaluations and other Operating Divisions in projects
  • Provide comments and analytical insights on business and projects to the unit management
  • Ensure all business processes are well documented and the business unit as well as relevant stakeholders are well informed
  • Master’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration/ Management, Science ore related discipline
  • At least 7 years of experience in relevant industries with project management
  • Proficient with analytical tools, and capable of developing relevant process based on the systems and adapted to business needs
  • Proficient with Business Service Modules (BSM), and SAP
  • Good business acumen, analytical, able to lead in multifaceted environments, with strong communications skills
  • Fluent in English
