Job Description

Manager, Regional Marketing, Inorganics, Monomers Asia Pacific

Location: HK-Hong Kong-Hong Kong

Located in Hong Kong, BASF’s Asia Pacific headquarters oversees more than 18,000 employees at about 100 production sites and 125 sales offices across the region. In addition to a number of regional business units, the Hong Kong office also houses regional functional units including Corporate Affairs, Finance and Controlling, Human Resources, Management Consulting, Procurement and Supply Chain Services.
Objectives of the Position
Reporting to Senior Manager, Regional Marketing, Inorganics, Monomers Asia Pacific, the incumbent will:
  • manage the regional inorganic salts business in Asia Pacific with focus to grow existing business with close cooperation of OD Direction and local country sales team
  • support investigation, evaluation and implementation of investment opportunities in the region.
  • support allocation of captive and outsourced supply to the countries and customers with a view to maximizing BASF’s profit 
Job Responsibilities
Strategy Development
  • Develop and implement product strategies for inorganics’ range of products and define marketing plan to develop countries’ business in line with strategic goals
  • Enhance business development strategies and priorities according to Asia Pacific market and technology needs in order to maximize the profitable growth in Asia Pacific in both short and long term
Business Management
  • Market scout and NBD (New Business Development) for new inorganic salts applications in Asia, initiate and manage business development activities that will strengthen, expand and drive market penetration. Realize new business opportunities in Asia
  • Sales and distribution management: Analyse the performance of the sales and distribution channels according to the agreed strategies/KPI’s while taking into consideration the logistics services and country sales network to propose the most efficient and cost efficient channels to help optimize profit and increase market share.
  • Pricing management: Monitor the market conditions and analyse the cost structure to constantly optimize prices and price bands in cooperation with Global Product Management
  • Conceptualization and monitoring of market intelligence projects for key/ new applications (e.g. customer surveys, benchmarking, etc) and support of regional investment plans
  • Develop and implement marketing activities and communication programs in the region to ensure the outcomes of product/services promotion and implementation of the business strategy
  • Lead of regional standard salt projects (e.g. trial marketing) and build up cross BU network to collect market information and realize business synergies
  • Support his supervisor in the investigation, evaluation, and implementation of investment ideas/opportunities in Asia
  • Support his supervisor in the allocation of captive and third party supply of Inorganic Chemicals products to the countries and customers with a view to maximizing BASF’s profitability
Key Account management
  • Provide guidance to country colleagues to prioritize key customer accounts in order to enhance business opportunities.  Visit customers wherever necessary
  • Degree in Marketing or Chemistry
  • Minimum 8 years’ of relevant work experience
  • Solid Project management skills
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking
  • A team player with excellent interpersonal skills and being able to integrate in a virtual working environment
  • Good at speaking and writing Chinese is essential
