Location: HK-Hong Kong-Hong Kong
Located in Hong Kong, BASF’s regional headquarters oversees more than 16,000 employees at about 100 sites across Asia Pacific. In addition to regional business units, Hong Kong office also houses regional functional units including Corporate Affairs, Finance and Controlling, Human Resources, Management Consulting, Procurement and Supply Chain Services.
Objectives of the Position
Reporting to the Head, Procurement, Processes & Projects Monomers, Asia Pacific, the incumbent will:
Facilitate business processes standardization and efficiency improvement programs for Monomers Asia Pacific (Business Unit). Identify business demand by stakeholders in Operating Division (OD), Regional Business Unit (RBU) or specific functions, analyze business processes and transfer these requirements or findings into sustainable solutions.
Act as driver and key facilitator of strategic topics under Monomers Asia Pacific (the Business Unit) for all Sub-business Unit (SBUs).
Support the BU management in business steering and subsequently achieving their operational & strategic goals by providing analysis, recommendations & monitoring of target measures. Highlight issues/risk proactively and timely
Conduct deep dive on the function services, define the right level of services fitting for commodity business. Closely monitor costs allocation. Proactively identify areas for improvement via site performance check and drive implementation.
Provide financial recommendation on strategy development, resource allocation and optimization to ensure the financial security/ objectives are met.
Support the business in pricing related matters and create transparency across value chains
Closely collaborate with Monomers (the Business Unit) “CM Path Forward” initiative team on accuracy of calculations and tracking of achievements
Identify, trigger and monitor the realization of cost saving potentials and synergies through process optimization/re-engineering
Support continues optimization initiatives and assist in implementation and tracking
Support the business to optimize costs across value chains in areas such as make-or-buy decisions, business model optimizations, business process improvements
Facilitate collaboration with potential partners in the region for potential business opportunity
Provide controlling inputs for raw material improvement, commercial excellence and logistics excellence measures in the region
Steer and facilitate controlling discussions with stakeholders in regional headquarters, local business management, site management and platforms
Ensure compliance in business process and financial bookings. Support any audit enquiries as well as the business in process improvements as a result of audit findings.
Collaborate with relevant functions to ensure data and master-data consistency
Drive to build up the best practices sharing and know-how transfer within the organization
Ad hoc project support
Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management or related discipline with CPA qualification
At least 5 years of relevant finance / business controlling experience in industrial sector
Strong financial controlling skills
Solid and hands-on knowledge of SAP and controlling tools
Good at strategic and analytical thinking as well as ability to collaborate across organizational units required
Excellent command of written and spoken English
High intercultural adaptability and customer focus
Good team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
