Manager, Logistics Visibility - Regional Lead Surface Transportation Asia Pacific

Location: HK-Hong Kong-Hong Kong

Located in Hong Kong, BASF’s regional headquarters oversees more than 16,000 employees at about 100 sites across Asia Pacific. In addition to regional business units, Hong Kong office also houses regional functional units including Corporate Affairs, Finance and Controlling, Human Resources, Management Consulting, Procurement and Supply Chain Services.
Objectives of the Position
  • Logistics Visibility is a joint project initiative between BASF 4.0 and Regional Supply Chain Services Asia Pacific. The purpose is to develop a visibility platform that combines shipment information from various sources. The key user groups are Customer Service, Transport Management, Import/Export Management and the Operating Divisions’ Supply Chain colleagues in the region. The target is to identify delays of shipments to customer early and trigger a pro-active notification. The scope so far has been mainly on maritime & air shipments, now also extending into surface transportation.
  • Reporting to Vice President, Regional Supply Chain Services Asia Pacific, the incumbent of this position will focus on surface transportation (truck and rail), analyze the current situation and requirements per country, define the approach and drive the implementation accordingly with a cross-functional team.  Furthermore, the incumbent will support the regional users and assure sustainable and beneficial usage of the platform by taking operational ownership.
Job Responsibilities
  • Organizational Management:
    • Accountable for the collaboration and alignment between regional user base all of Asia Pacific and the global Logistics Visibility team
  • Change Management:
    • Responsible to build up and lead the regional community and actively engage users from all countries in Asia Pacific to apply the visibility platform in their daily live. Motivate users to actively participate
    • Manage relationship with relevant stakeholders including Team Leads, Directors, Vice Presidents both from Operating Divisions and Regional Supply Chain Services, and assure sustainable usage in the region
  • User Support:
    • After implementation and training of users, set up regional community network across the whole region and stay in close touch with the users. Offer and facilitate regular training sessions in the region
    • Provide guidance for users and channel questions, issues and feedback to the global team
    • Share success stories and best practices
  • Process Deployment:
    • Analyze and develop surface visibility implementation plan per country or sub-region. Develop deep understanding of the requirements and challenges in each country
    • Ensure use cases reflect day-to-day reality, fine-tune use cases if necessary for optimum use in specific situations
    • As an expert, lead initiative and further drive for functional and process improvements, systematically identify additional use cases and develop use cases further, communicate and deploy new use cases in the region. This task in a complex, very dynamic environment with many interfaces applies surface transport in all countries of Asia Pacific
  • Partner Onboarding:
    • Ensure all relevant service providers are connected to the visibility layer, support onboarding process and data quality topics. Regular exchange with external partners required
  • Benefit Tracking:
    • Accountable for the implementation progress, performance, cost and benefit tracking in the region, supported by the global Logistics Visibility team
Requirements
  • Bachelor degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Science, or related discipline
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in Supply Chain Management, Transport or Export Management in multinational organizations
  • Experience in Transport / Export Management, will good understanding of Transport Management processes and regional specifics
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to actively engage users and stakeholders on all management levels
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English is prerequisite
