Job Description

Manager, Internal Communications, Corporate Affairs, Asia Pacific

Location: HK-Hong Kong-Hong Kong

Located in Hong Kong, BASF’s Asia Pacific headquarters oversees more than 18,000 employees at about 100 production sites and 125 sales offices across the region. In addition to a number of regional business units, the Hong Kong office also houses regional functional units including Corporate Affairs, Finance and Controlling, Human Resources, Management Consulting, Procurement and Supply Chain Services.
Objectives of the Position
  • Reporting to the Head of Internal Communications, Corporate Affairs Asia Pacific, the incumbent has to ensure the effective delivery of information to employees in Asia Pacific and capturing all opportunities to convey key messages about various strategic initiatives, contributing to employee engagement in the corporate strategy
Job Responsibilities
  • Act as chief editor of the Asia Pacific eNewsletter, manage the editorial calendar, develop feature articles, proofread and edit content contributed by employees for the weekly eNewsletter
  • Generate ideas and content for other internal communication channels (e.g. videos); proofread and edit content of other internal materials and documents contributed by employees
  • Plan and implement internal communication and engagement activities for employees in Hong Kong, including managing lunch and learn sessions, breakfast chats with senior executives, corporate volunteering, etc
  • Develop and manage the Asia Pacific corporate intranet site, including content, navigation, layout and technical functions, to ensure that it is useful and user-friendly for employees, the content is up-to-date and accurate, the layout consistent with the corporate style guide. Provide regional governance on brand compliance for new intranet sites to ensure style consistency; provide training to new users in the web-content management system and style-guide training. Represent Asia Pacific in the global Communications Expert Community (CEC) for online projects
  • Develop and implement communication initiatives and projects aligned to corporate strategies and key topics through a range of channels, ensuring ease of access to communications for country communication teams as well as clarity and consistency of messages throughout Asia Pacific
  • Devise communication strategies and plans that effectively promote employee engagement and collaboration proactively by using a variety of channels such as digital media tools, face-to-face activities
  • Monitor, research, evaluate and report regularly on the effectiveness of the internal communication channels and activities, making appropriate improvements and recommendations
  • University degree or above in Mass Communications, Journalism, English or related fields
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in Internal / Corporate Communication and worked in multinational company, PR agency or as journalist for well-known media. Experiences gained in a matrix organization will be an asset
  • Strong English writing skills and very good spoken English
  • Experience in event management with hands-on involvement
  • Experience in managing content and production for intranet websites to support communication programs
  • High sense of intercultural orientation and good interpersonal skills
  • Extremely organized, an eye for detail, creative, proactive and results oriented
  • Good computer and software skills and experience with digital tools and platforms
