Business Development Consultant

Location: Hong Kong

  • Experience in insurance or brokerage firm is a MUST
  • Must be bilingual in English and Cantonese
  • Budget is HKD 30,000 - 45,000 per month + discretionary bonus & commission

Our client is an international brokerage firm. As the business is growing rapidly in Asia, they are now looking into bring in a Business Development Consultant for exploring, securing and developing new business and distribution opportunities throughout the APAC region. This involves pro-actively seeking out new business opportunities in Hong Kong to sell firm l’s products through various distribution channels and achieve new business targets. The Business Development Consultant will achieve this through developing strong working relationships with distributors and maintaining long-term relationships at the highest levels across strategic accounts. 

Role Responsibility

  • Support Head of Intermediary Distribution to manage all aspects of new business and distribution development
  • Build strong, effective long term relationships with decision makers within each intermediary across current and new intermediary relationships
  • Achieve new business sales targets with the Head of Intermediary Sales and seek to achieve targeted growth both for registration and distribution
  • Identify opportunities that can be developed and draw up a Strategic Plan to identify the business potential within the account or distribution, not only in terms of potential for expansion and growth for International business, but for the group
  • Represent the firm by good preparation and planning prior to calls and ensure appropriate after-sales service and support
  • Prepare and present appropriate sales material often to the highest level of the company using full graphic capabilities, marketing and sales aids
  • Comply with and take into account any requirements from the Hong Kong regulations


Role Requirement

  • Sales background in the global health insurance market, or relevant transferable skills and knowledge from other financial services industries such as Life Insurance, Retail, Commercial or Investment Banking and Wealth Management including selling at Senior/Board member level
  • Demonstrable track record in growing intermediary sales and achieving sales targets with previous working relationships with intermediaries or third party distribution channels;
  • Holds working knowledge of competitor products, business/commercial acumen on pricing/contract issues within the marketplace
  • Experience in negotiating and managing high-value contracts with external and internal partners
  • Experience of working overseas and dealing with foreign cultures is important, as is capability to develop a strong international network of commercial contacts and effectively manage long term relationships
