Job Description

Senior Manager, Actuarial Solutions Architecture - Sub Ledger

Location: Hong Kong, HK

Job Summary

  • This role focuses on Project Halley, the Group-wide project for the implementation of IFRS 17 and IFRS 9
  • Support the Sub-Ledger team in the design, development and implementation of the selected IFRS 17 solution across different business units of the Group
  • Work with the selected vendor to develop and implement a robust Sub-ledger solution
  • Document and design the Sub-Ledger end to end detailed production flow
  • Take a leading role in the development of analytics function to enhance management reporting of IFRS 17 results.



  • Support the Actuarial Lead in overall leadership on Project Halley Sub-ledger related activities
  • Provide Sub-ledger and actuarial expertise and support during project implementation

Vendor Management

  • Partner with AIA’s selected implementation partners, driving them to high quality and timely delivery of their responsibilities

Project Management

  • Ensure delivery of the implementation plan to agreed timescales, providing clear, supportable justifications for exceptions
  • Clearly define and document workstream scope and ensure traceability of this through all stages of delivery
  • Support different stakeholders with all workstream information needs, manage inter workstream conflicts and dependencies
  • Provide process tracking and all necessary reporting to stakeholders and Program Management Office
  • Support management of all workstream issues and risks
  • Interact with key stakeholders of the future state solution, accommodating their engagement, participation in delivery and have their needs met upon projection completion

Solution Delivery

  • The candidate will contribute substantially to the implementation design
  • Develop testing plans, control processes and conduct testing of Sub-ledger system
  • Conduct technical training, workshops and discussion forums to local business units to support Group wide IFRS 17 implementation
  • Support local business units across the Group to drive the implementation of IFRS 17


  • Assess financial impacts, explain key results and movements in adopting IFRS 17 during the project phase
  • Participate in the design and development of in depth analytics function in supporting management reporting framework for IFRS 17.



  • Degree holder in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or Statistics


  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in the life insurance industry with strong business sense and Actuarial knowledge

Professional Qualifications

  • FSA or equivalent


  • Knowledge and experience in IFRS 17 is a strong plus
  • Consulting and project management experience is a plus
  • Ability to operate effectively and independently in complex program environment
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with various stakeholders
  • Embrace ownership in various tasks and able to provide thoughtful recommendations
  • Good problem solving and strong analytical skills, able to clearly present results systematically and logically
  • Strong managerial experience and leadership ability in coaching junior team members
