Associate Director – Airport System Design, Aviation

Job Summary

Travel by air and you will likely encounter an aviation project that AECOM professionals successfully planned, advised, designed or managed - from the design of Terminal 9 at New York’s John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airport to a master plan for Hong Kong International Airport to program management services for Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. Responsibilities:

  • Project Management of the design of all Special Airport Systems related systems on airport development projects. The Special Airport Systems often includes a large collection of different systems under the categories of Passenger Processing and Information Systems, Security, Wired and Wireless Networking and Communications Infrastructure, and Facility Management systems
  • Design Management, including preparation of technical content, for some of the above systems if resources are not available

  • Client management – liaison between project team and client, ensuring excellent customer service and client satisfaction

  • Coordination of design input from various parties from different regions, including other internal project team members and external consultants

  • Preparing and presenting concepts and options to the client, and proposal delivery

  • Developing functional descriptions and specifications

  • Monitoring and controlling costs, tasks, deliverables, and schedules

Minimum Requirements

Requirements:
  • Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or Computer Science, or other related University Degree
  • Strong technical understanding in most of the Special Airport Systems
  • Has demonstrated experience successfully managing the design of a suite of Special Airport Systems having minimum value US$100M on an airport development project
  • Minimum 10 years’ overall experience as a Project Lead employed by an airport operator, airline, airline agent or contractor/consultant who is directly involved in aviation work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluent in written and spoken English
  • Good appreciation of the airport operations business
  • Strong client management and project management skills
  • Attentive to detail, broad-minded and practical thinker
